Destiel Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct outlines the standards and expectations for all volunteers at Destiel. By adhering to this code, volunteers help maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment for all.

1. Respect and Dignity

Treat all individuals with respect and dignity regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or any other characteristic.
Use inclusive language and avoid any form of discriminatory or derogatory remarks.

2. Professionalism

Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times, both in-person and online.
Adhere to Destiel's policies and procedures, including the confidentiality policy and non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
Be punctual and reliable, attending all scheduled meetings and sessions, and notifying your supervisor in advance if you are unable to attend.

3. Confidentiality

Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive information, including personal information of members, staff, and other volunteers.
Do not disclose any confidential information without prior written consent from Destiel.

4. Conflict of Interest

Avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any potential conflicts to your supervisor.
Do not use your position for personal gain.
Refer to the Conflict of Interest Policy for more details.

5. Health and Safety

Follow all health and safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Report any hazards or safety concerns to your supervisor immediately.
Take reasonable care of your own health and safety as well as that of others.

6. Integrity and Accountability

Perform your duties to the best of your ability and take responsibility for your actions.
Be honest and transparent in all your dealings and communications.
Use the timesheet system to clock in and clock out daily and to note in detail the tasks performed each day.
Refer to the Timesheet Usage Guidelines and Timesheet Policy for detailed instructions.
Verbal claims of work performed that are not documented via the timesheet system will not be accepted. If a correction is needed, volunteers can submit a "Modify Timesheet Request."

7. Collaboration and Teamwork

Work collaboratively with other volunteers, staff, and community members to achieve Destiel's mission.
Respect differing opinions and perspectives and seek to resolve conflicts constructively.
Communicate openly and effectively, keeping your supervisor informed of any issues or concerns.
Use Microsoft Teams for all organizational communications and collaborations.

8. Media and Publicity

Grant permission to Destiel to use your name, likeness, and any photos or videos taken during your service for promotional and marketing purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, social media, website, newsletters, and other marketing materials.

9. Use of Resources

Use Destiel's resources responsibly and only for their intended purposes.
Protect Destiel's property and report any damage or loss to your supervisor.
Store all files and documents related to Destiel’s operations on SharePoint.
As part of your role, you may be provided with access to online subscriptions and shared accounts necessary for performing your duties. By accepting this access, you agree to the following terms:

  • Authorized Use Only: Use the provided accounts solely for purposes related to your volunteer activities with Destiel.
  • No Unauthorized Changes: Do not change the login credentials, email address, or any account settings.
  • Account Security: Maintain the security of the account and do not share login credentials with unauthorized persons.
  • Return and Revocation: Cease using and return access to any provided accounts upon termination or completion of your volunteer role, or upon request by the organization.
  • Compliance: Comply with all terms and conditions set forth by the service providers of the online subscriptions.
  • Post-Departure Accountability: Unauthorized use or changes to account credentials after departure will result in legal actions, including restitution and potential criminal charges.

10. Volunteer Verification System (VVS)

Consent to be included in the Volunteer Verification System (VVS) as a condition of your service. This includes your name, email address (if necessary), start date, departure date (if applicable), feedback status, current status, and total hours contributed.

11. Intellectual Property

Any materials, content, or other intellectual property you create in the course of your service are the property of Destiel. This includes, but is not limited to, written content, graphics, designs, and any other work product.
Refer to the Intellectual Property Agreement for detailed guidelines.

12. Disciplinary Action and Termination

Non-compliance with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of your volunteer service.
The Organization may terminate the agreement if the Volunteer breaches any terms of this agreement, including the Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement.
