Destiel Health and Safety Policy

This Health and Safety Policy ("Policy") is established to ensure a safe working environment for all volunteers at Destiel. By adhering to this Policy, volunteers help maintain a healthy and secure environment for themselves and others.

1. Purpose

To outline the procedures and guidelines for maintaining health and safety at Destiel, ensuring the well-being of all volunteers.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to all volunteers, staff, and visitors at Destiel, covering all activities and environments where Destiel operates.

3. Responsibilities

Organization Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and healthy working environment for all volunteers.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Ensure volunteers receive adequate training on health and safety procedures.
  • Provide necessary safety equipment and resources.

Volunteer Responsibilities

  • Follow all health and safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Report any hazards, incidents, or safety concerns to their supervisor immediately.
  • Take reasonable care of their own health and safety as well as that of others.
  • Use provided safety equipment correctly and consistently.
  • Participate in health and safety training sessions.

4. Procedures

Reporting Hazards

  • Volunteers must report any identified hazards to their supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Supervisors will assess the hazard and take appropriate action to mitigate the risk.

Incident Reporting

  • In the event of an incident or near-miss, volunteers must report the occurrence to their supervisor immediately.
  • An incident report form must be completed and submitted within 24 hours of the incident.

Emergency Procedures

  • Volunteers must familiarize themselves with emergency procedures, including evacuation routes and assembly points.
  • In the event of an emergency, volunteers must follow the instructions of their supervisor and emergency personnel.
  • Volunteers should assist others in evacuating the area safely.

5. Health and Safety Training

  • All volunteers are required to complete health and safety training before beginning their service.
  • Training will cover general health and safety procedures, specific hazards related to their role, and the correct use of safety equipment.
  • Additional training sessions will be conducted periodically to ensure ongoing compliance with health and safety standards.

6. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Volunteers must use PPE as required for their specific tasks.
  • PPE will be provided by Destiel, and volunteers must ensure it is used correctly and maintained in good condition.

7. Health and Well-being

  • Destiel is committed to supporting the overall health and well-being of its volunteers.
  • Volunteers are encouraged to take regular breaks, maintain a healthy work-life balance, and seek support if they experience any health issues related to their volunteer duties.

8. Compliance and Monitoring

  • Compliance with this Policy is mandatory for all volunteers.
  • Supervisors will monitor adherence to health and safety procedures and address any non-compliance promptly.
  • Regular audits will be conducted to ensure the effectiveness of health and safety measures.

9. Non-Compliance

  • Non-compliance with this Policy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of volunteer service.
  • The Organization may terminate the agreement if the Volunteer breaches any terms of this Policy.

10. Acknowledgment and Acceptance

By signing below, the Volunteer acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to adhere to the terms and conditions outlined in this Health and Safety Policy.
